What is Small Text?
Small caps are capital letters reduced to roughly the height of lowercase letters — a classic typographic style for adding quiet emphasis without shouting. Because most apps and social networks offer no formatting controls, this generator uses Unicode instead: it maps each letter of your text to the matching small capital glyph from the standard Unicode character set, live as you type.
Where does small text show up? Everywhere usernames and bios live: Instagram and Twitter bios, Discord display names, TikTok captions and YouTube headlines. It reads as a whispered subtitle next to regular text — noticeable, but calmer than full caps, which people read as shouting. Some writers also use it for headings, taglines and spoiler warnings.
The conversion is a pure character-by-character mapping done locally in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or sent to a server; the output updates with every keystroke and can be pasted into any app that accepts plain text.
Frequently asked questions
Does small text work everywhere?
Mostly, yes. The small capital glyphs are standard Unicode characters, and all modern phones, computers and browsers include fonts that can display them. Very old devices or unusual fonts may be missing a few letters.
Is this real lowercase text?
No — the output is made of separate Unicode small capital characters, not ordinary lowercase letters. It looks right, but search fields, screen readers and some word processors treat the glyphs as distinct symbols.
How do I copy the small text?
Click the Copy button under the output box, then paste anywhere with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). The glyphs are plain text, so they paste into any app.
Why are some of my letters still big?
Only lowercase a–z have small capital versions in this mapping. Capital letters, digits and punctuation are left unchanged, so type in lowercase for the full effect.
Will it work as my game or app username?
It pastes fine into most display-name fields, but some platforms restrict usernames to basic letters and numbers. If a name is rejected, that is the platform filtering Unicode — try a lower-intensity alternative or another name.
